Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada: Infographic release
On October 31, 2018, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released their infographic "Immigration at a glance".
The IRCC statistics indicate that, in 2017, Canada admitted a number of 65,417 new permanent residents in the Economic Class, through the Express Entry system. The Economic Class accounts for a total of 56% of permanent resident admissions.
IRCC also reports a percentage of over 130% increase in citizenship applications from October 2017 to June 2018.
In a further release of November 1, 2018, IRCC summarizes their proposed immigration levels for 2019-2021, as follows: "[...] the new 2019-2021 immigration levels plan remains focused on attracting the best and brightest from around the world, with the majority of the increase allotted to high-skilled economic immigration. In fact, 72% of additional admissions are allocated to economic programs in 2021. [...] the 2019-2021 levels plan continues to responsibly grow the number of permanent residents Canada welcomes annually to 330,800 in 2019, 341,000 in 2020 and 350,000 in 2021" (IRCC, Backgrounder: Businesses and communities across Canada to benefit from increased immigration).
