Extension of the open work permit pilot program for permanent residence applicants under the in-Cana

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada announced the extension of the open work permit pilot program for permanent residence applicants under the in-Canada spouse or common-law partner class, until July 31, 2020.

As of December 22, 2014, open work permits may be issued under a pilot program to applicants under the in-Canada spouse or common-law partner class. Under this pilot program, applicants in the aforementioned class may apply for an open work permit with, or any time after, the submission of their application for permanent residence.
