The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) announced in July, the Tech draws: a new opportunity under the Human capital priority stream. As per OINP, this dedicated approach aimed at identifying people with technological skills in the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada' Express Entry pool, will assist businesses in the technology sector to recruit top talent worldwide.
Tech Draws target Express Entry candidates with work experience in one of the six tech occupations:
Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
Note: a job offer from a Canadian employer is not required.
From its inception, 3,396 candidates have been invited to pursue a provincial nomination. As for all other provincial nominee streams, a successfully nominated candidate will have to subsequently proceed with an application for permanent residence at the federal government level.
